01 Our Values
Tender
We’re here because we’ve been there, so we can’t help but to be wholeheartedly invested in your journey. We want to provide you the warmth, validation and affirmation that can feel so rare in adulthood. Working with us will challenge you, but it will also feel like coming home.
Liberating
We’re fired up about your freedom and fight for it alongside you. Always intersectional, pleasure-positive, and identity-celebrating, we have a low tolerance for boxes, assumptions, and systems that stifle your creative healing. We are your unashamed and unapologetic accomplices in doing life-changing, culture-shifting work.
Community Cultivated
We’re obsessed with staying up-to-date on affirming, anti-oppressive language and concepts, and think learning directly from queer Black folks, Indigenous folks, and community leaders of color is just as important as gathering data from research. We believe in the transformative power of accurate information about sex, gender and relationships.
02 Our Team
We are pleasure activists, disruptors, innovators, and creatives. While we are technically a business, we operate more as a movement. Meet our team of therapists, coaches, and educators.

Evelyn is a queer, biracial Latina, who values and understands the importance of understanding, exploring, and centering our identities. Understanding the resiliencies and strengths of her family through storytelling has enabled her to reflect on the way we all experience courage.
Evelyn was first drawn to mental health as a community organizer, uplifting community leaders to change systemic barriers through storytelling. She incorporates the importance of stories through a narrative therapy approach, and believes that you are the expert of your own story. Her hope is to work together to identify what narratives deserve to hold space in your story.

“Queer not as being about who you are having sex with, but queer as being about the self that is at odds with everything around it and has to invent and create and find a place to speak and to thrive and to live.”
03 Our Offerings
Individual Therapy & Coaching
Work one-on-one with a provider to expand your self-awareness, heal from previous trauma, and develop strategies for thriving. Through a non-judgmental, intersectional lens, our providers will work with you on concerns and resiliencies related to your identities, mental health, relationships, career and beyond.
Relationship Therapy & Coaching
Couples and triadic+ relationships come to TEG both to move through relationship crises and for general relationship maintenance. We work with relationships curious about non-monogamy, working through infidelity, exploring new identities, coming to terms with loss or transition, family-planning, and expanding their sex lives. We approach relationship therapy through a kink, BDSM, non-monogamy, and queer-affirming lens.

04 FAQs
While our therapists and coaches have a particular specialty in working with sex therapy, they are trained and experienced in working with a myriad of concerns. Whether you’re looking to work on anxiety or depression, trauma or body image, or anything else that affects your mental wellbeing, our therapists and coaches are equipped and excited to support you.
Sex therapy is a therapeutic intervention primarily focused on intimacy, identity, and a client’s relationship to sex and their body, and “queer sex therapy” refers to our 2sLGBQIA+ affirming lens. Our team advocates for expansive views of gender, relationship and sexual exploration, and does not gate-keep identity, language, or behavior. You do not need to be in a relationship (or even sexually active) to seek sex therapy. Common reasons people seek sex therapy include:
- Desire discrepancy (struggles with sexual compatibility)
- Sexual trauma
- Relationship conflict & communication
- Gender identity exploration and/or transition
- Gender dysphoria
- Exploration of sexual orientation including gay, lesbian, asexual, pansexual, queer, and more
- BDSM and Kink
- Struggles with orgasm or inorgasmia
- Overcoming sexual shame and/or religious trauma
- Non-monogamy
- Chronic pain and/or sexual pain
- Body Image
- General couples or relationship therapy
In order to make queer-affirming, expansive counsel accessible to everyone, The Expansive Group utilizes a dual therapy-coaching model. While all of our coaches are trained therapists, therapists are not able to provide therapy outside of the states in which they are licensed. For this reason, we contract with out of state clients as coaching clients. We do not work with coaching (out of state) clients in crisis, or on concerns related to severe mental illness, ongoing trauma, or recurring suicidal ideation.
Yes! Because of our dual therapy-coaching model, we are able to offer services all over the world. We often have clients reaching out from states or countries where queer and trans affirming sex therapy is rare, and for this reason have adjusted our service offerings to be geographically inclusive. Unless you are located in Chicago, all services are virtual.
Absolutely. While we center the queer community in our work, we believe that everyone can benefit from an expansive take on sexuality, gender and relationships. Many of our therapists and coaches work with cisgender, straight clients across a wide range of topics.
We only accept insurance from Illinois residents who have Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO or Blue Choice. To ensure that we are in-network with your insurance, call the number on the back of your insurance card prior to your first session. If insurance does not cover the cost of your sessions, you will be responsible for the full charge.
We do not accept independent licensees of BCBS. We also do not work with out-of-network providers for temporary coverage. Therapy clients are welcome to submit a bill to their insurance companies to seek out-of -network coverage.
Yes, we offer sliding scale services to BIPOC clients and clients with disabilities. Currently, our sliding scale waitlist is closed.
Therapy and coaching sessions range from $150-250 (not including sliding scale) per 53-minute session, depending your provider’s availability, experience and level of licensure.
Our intake manager specializes in matching clients with a provider that fits their needs and presenting concerns. Furthermore, our clinicians can tailor their approach to align with your goals. You can also request a free 15-minute consultation to engage with a provider before scheduling a full session.
The instagram page @queersextherapy was created by our CEO, Casey Tanner, and is run by Casey and other TEG educators. Because we recognize not everyone has the time, energy or finances for sex therapy or coaching, we provide free sex, gender and relationship education through this platform in an effort to make this unique work more accessible. While @queersextherapy offers brief tips and resources around these topics, many choose to work with a provider at TEG to explore what these topics mean in their lives.
