Liv Rivas, LMSW (She/Her)
Staff Therapist
Liv is a Complex Trauma Survivor and licensed therapist who aims to prioritize the mind-body connection through somatic experiencing. Having grown up in a wheelchair due to a childhood physical disability, Liv recognizes unique challenges associated with body-image and radical acceptance. Forever a believer in the power of storytelling, she seeks to empower her clients to reflect and reclaim their own narratives on their own timelines. Liv is passionate about working with individuals and couples looking to explore identity, release toxic shame, and reconnect from a place of authentic tenderness.
In 2019, Liv left her career in Hollywood during the rise of the #MeToo movement to pursue social work and advocacy for those who have experienced trauma. Liv has since worked alongside Survivors of Sex-Trafficking at Safe Horizons and Childhood Sexual Assault (CSA) at UCLA Hospital where she fostered clients’ emotional and physical safety in pursuit of healing.
Liv joins The Expansive Group from Mount Sinai Hospital, where she worked in the ICU helping families navigate life-changing, complex medical systems, as well as the Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery providing gender-affirming care for Non-Binary and Transgender individuals. She received her Master’s degree from New York University and earned her Bachelor of Arts from Harvard College.
Liv practices therapy in New York and offers coaching anywhere
