Lauren Bailey, LPC (She/They)
Staff Therapist
We all struggle with feeling disconnected, whether because of a decrease of face-to-face interactions because of the pandemic, being queer in a heteronormative world, feeling like you are the only parent of a queer child, or a break up in your polycule. The lack of community creates loneliness, sadness and anxiety.
Lauren structures their work with clients in a way that helps you build relationships, first in the therapeutic space and then in your broader world. Their practice, based on Relational Cultural Theory, creates partnership through therapy to identify systems of oppression that create disconnection and ways to find growth fostering relationships with yourself and your community.
Lauren came to counseling after a decade of working in politics and government in Washington, D.C. Their partner's coming out and their shared journey, first as a mixed orientation relationship and then as two queer people navigating separation, led Lauren to pursue a career as a therapist. Lauren accepts all clients and is especially interested in helping folks with identity concerns, queer youth, mixed orientation relationships, polyamorous folk, and family members looking to be more affirming.
Lauren practices therapy in Illinois and offers coaching anywhere.
