Joanna Hartshorne, LCSW (She/They)

Staff Therapist

Joanna is a Black/mixed-race, neurodiverse, queer therapist with experience working with individuals and groups of all ages. She has worked with anti-violence organizations, sexual & reproductive health organizations; facilitated workshops for adolescents & adults exploring body autonomy, consent, healthy relationships, & social justice; and trained as a birth & death doula. She is dedicated to supporting People of the Global Majority and LGBTQ+ survivors of institutional and relational trauma, working from an anti-colonial, holistic lens.

Joanna’s approach is informed by her training in trauma therapy, attachment therapy, IFS, & psychodynamic psychotherapy. This allows her to be fluid and creative—using a variety of lenses to provide individualized, attuned care. Above all else, she loves working with clients to reestablish a sense of internal safety; reconnecting to the body, sensuality, curiosity, and pleasure to heal and allow for deeper relationships and experiences.

Joanna practices therapy in New York and offers coaching anywhere.
